3 Ways to Stay Creative

3 Ways to Stay Creative

Being able to tap into my creativity has been a strength that I believe has helped me get to where I am today.

To give you a little background, I’ve always considered myself a pretty creative person. I’ve always danced (literally & figuratively) to the beat of my own drum and I’m really grateful to have had my family let me do so. I expressed myself through clothes, makeup, and dancing while I was younger. Once I became a business owner I found that I could let my creativity shine through how I ran my business - from facial protocols, decor, and of course my photoshoots and social media content.

…But STAYING creative can be a challenge. We’re human at the end of the day and there are some days when being creative is a bit more difficult than others. If you’ve been finding yourself in a “creative rut”, I want to share a few tips that help me when I know I’m having one of those days.

Have a hobby that inspires you.

We all need something to do in our free time that isn’t WORK related. For me, that’s traveling, dancing, and growing my rose garden. Whenever I’m unplugging from work, I spend my free time doing things that I KNOW will inspire me and spark that creativity instead of mindlessly scrolling on social media or watching Netflix. While I love a good Netflix binge once in a while, being intentional and spending your time doing something that LIGHTS up that creativity will be much more beneficial in the long run.

Pin away on Pinterest

I LOVE Pinterest for inspo. I know I mentioned above to avoid mindless activities like scrolling on social media but Pinterest is an exception! I love checking out different boards and scrolling on the explore feed to get new ideas for business and maybe a fun recipe to try. There are so many great ideas on Pinterest and if you aren’t already on the platform, I recommend making a free account and creating various boards for different projects you have in mind. This will definitely help spark your creativity! Be sure to follow me too!

Let it FLOW.

If you’re trying to lean into your creativity, the worst thing you could do is pressure yourself and force it. I find that the more pressure I put on being creative, the less creative I end up feeling. Go with the flow, give yourself grace, and don’t set expectations.

While these 3 tips help me stay creative, I want to mention that the BIGGEST thing to keep in mind is that you’ve gotta be willing to try. Creativity can be intimidating at times, especially if you’re putting yourself out of your comfort zone but you have to be willing to do so.

Even if someone may think it’s weird or if you’re afraid you might fail, I don’t believe there’s a way to fail when you’re being creative. Things might not pan out the way you expected but that’s okay! It’s all part of the process.

How do you like staying creative? Let me know your tips in the comments below.

xoxo
