Esthetician Self-Care

Esthetician Self-Care

You know that saying, “You can’t pour from an empty cup?”it’s so true. If you don’t take the time to fill up YOUR own cup first, how can you give anything to those around you?

I think this concept is especially true if you’re a business owner. When you prioritize yourself and your self-care, you show up better in business and better in life. As I’ve grown my esthetician business, I’ve learned quite a lot along the way and one of those lessons being the importance of self-care.

We take care of our clients all day every day, but so many times we forget to take care of ourselves! So this is your reminder that it’s equally important to take care of YOU. I want to share 4 easy ways that I make sure I’m always filling my own cup first to keep my etsy game strong - both in and out of the treatment room.

Self-Care Tip #1: HYDRATE! Drink. Your. Water.

This seems like common sense but when was the last time you actually drank a glass of water? If you had to think about it… it might be time to step up your hydration game. Staying hydrated is SO important and we always tell our clients to hydrate but then we don’t… oops!

Consider today the last day you make this mistake. Here are some of my favorite products to keep hydration EASY and FUN -

  1. Warm lemon water FIRST thing in the morning. To make this more exciting, put it in your favorite mug!

  2. Chlorophyll water. My favorite detox water of all time is from Sakara, be sure to use this link to get $50 OFF from a purchase of $75+. I’d also recommend checking out their beauty water, digestive tea, and chocolate granola (these make for great snacks both at home and at the spa). I like to enjoy my detox water in this clear tumbler glass with this crystal straw.

  3. Get a cute water bottle! Because, why not? This is my current fav bottle right now. Adding in cute little things like this makes drinking water that much more exciting. Who knew staying hydrated could be so fun?!

Self-Care Tip #2: Meditation.

The power that some good meditation and breathwork can have is EXTREMELY underrated. At first, you might think this is a little woo woo but I promise if you attempt meditating for at least 5 minutes a day you will notice such a drastic difference in your mood and keep going. Check out Insight Timer, it’s a free app with some amazing meditation sounds!

Self-Care Tip #3: Indulge in a hobby!

Listen, I know you’re passionate about what you do. I am too! If I could work all day every day, I probably would. But that would only result in burnout, which we don’t want. Instead, be more conscious about having a balance. You need some play in your life!

For me, a few of my favorite past-times when I’m not in the treatment room are interior design and gardening. Lately, I’ve been loving just curling up on the couch with a good read and having some incense burning. If you’re looking for a life-changing incense to burn, check this one outI also have a list on Amazon with all my favorite book recommendations that you can check out here

Self-Care Tip #4: Slow down AKA CALM DOWN!

This one is pretty self-explanatory but it’s worth mentioning. When you’re running a business and dealing with day-to-day life chaos, it’s really easy to get lost in that cycle.

For the looongest time, I was always in a rush and in constant go go go mode. I realized this was so bad for my cortisol and once I took the time to actually slow down, I was much happier and actually MUCH more productive.

Your self-care is just as important as your clients’, I hope this post served as a much-needed reminder and that you take away at least 1 daily habit to implement towards your self-care. You deserve it!

xoxo
